Hothfield Village Hall centrally located within Hothfield village is managed by a group of Trustees (Registered Charity (no 278776). The Committee meets on the first Monday evening of every month at 7pm in the Bluebells Children's Centre (old School building) except where the first Monday is a Bank Holiday. 2011 Hall Half Year Report

2011 has been (and continues to be) an exciting time for your Village Hall. We have been busy with regular bookings from the likes of the Youth Club, the Film Club, Rugby Tots, dog traing, dance, and so on. Additionally, bingo, darts, Merry and Bright, Bowls have been regular users of the Hall for many years. Apologies to anyone I have left out. All of the above are augmented by bookings for children?s parties, birthdays, weddings, etc.

Although the Hall is looking well, work on improvements continues. “Awards for All” are funding new chairs and tables, as well as the taking down of the dangerous tree at the far end of the car park. Thanks to Hedley Grenfell-Banks (advised by Bob Rivers) for securing the funding to undertake this important work. We have also received support from the Garfield Weston Foundation, which will help towards the cost of insulating the roof and ceilings. This will, we hope, make the Hall warmer in winter and save money on heating bills. Efforts are currently in hand to raise further funds to cover these costs, as well as replacing worn carpets by the kitchen, together with the vinyl-covered area.

All of this would not be possible without the hard work and continuous efforts of the Village Hall Committee. An example was the Village Fete – a day enjoyed by all. Another recent example of their work and that of the Friends of St Margaret?s was the Harvest Festival Village Supper. This was well attended and hopefully enjoyed by all. It wouldn?t have happened without the hard work of both committees.

Sharon, our booking clerk for the last few years, has sadly left. However, we now have Carol, who will take your Village Hall Bookings on 01233 610455.

A number of events are planned for the coming months: a jumble sale at the end of October (too late for this edition of the Newsletter), a quiz night in November, the possibility of a New Year?s party, Hothfield?s Got Talent, country and western dance. The list goes on.

Finally, our thanks to everyone who works for or supports our Village Hall. It is one of the very best in the Borough of Ashford.
