Name The Bear competition run by Sheila Flynn. Winner was Frances from Ashford. We hope you all enjoyed the Fete and had fun on the stalls and rides. The event was a great success plus we made around £1000 profit to go towards keeping your Hall open for you to use. We apologise that the Hog Roast let us down and that you all had to queue for a long time for our burgers or hot dogs. The top prize at the Grand Raffle was won by Amanda from Little Chart. Once again we’d like to thank all of you who donated prizes and for the generosity of everyone who bought tickets or took part on our various stalls. The huge teddy was named “Nanook” (the Inuit name for ‘Polar Bear’) and was won by Frances in Ashford. The most nails hammered into the log was 21 which earned George Latter £5 for 30 seconds work, and congratulations to Roger who won a bottle of wine for milking over 1.2litres from our cow. We’d also like to thank the military vehicle owners for coming along for us to admire their cherished vehicles, and to the emergency services who also gave up their time to come to our event and to take on our Tug-of-War team. The Fete could not have been successful without the help and energy of the Friends of St. Margaret’s Church, Hothfield Fete Committee, the RSPCA, the Hothfield Support Group and the generosity of local businesses, plus many many more (you know who you are) and Community Payback who helped to clean up the field and car park. We gratefully presented John and Pat Coles with a small gift to thank them for use of their field and for mowing and rolling it for us. If you bought a Pyracantha plant, but didn’t come back to collect it, then please call Chris on 624105. Also if you bought a Hothfield History book that stops at page 102 then Chris has got your missing pages from 103 onwards. |
